I had an aluminum/fiberglass flight case custom made for the Millennium Falcon. The case has a threaded rod sticking up on the inside that goes through the model, on which the Millennium Falcon gets locked in place with a small disk that replaces the upper gun turret during transport. I also made two "transport locks" that slide into the mounting points on the sides of the model that hold the model centered in the case so the edge of the model itself does not touch the case. In 1997, I took the Millennium Falcon to a Star Wars convention in Germany and the model made it there and back (to Los Angeles) without any damage! The case cost $360. The model itself was about another $600. (including. $140 or so for the Lightsheet.) And I think it was worth every cent. What do you think? (No, it is NOT for sale! :-) )
