This is a Star Wars Y-Wing fighter model that I have built from scratch in 1995.
It is the same size as the original Industrial Light & Magic
Y-Wing fighter model used during the making of the Star Wars: Trilogy.
Unfortunately, I was not able to find more than two of
the model kits ILM used for kit bashing the
original Y-Wing fighter model so the detail on this model is not very accurate.
Two of the main parts on this kit are identical to the original model:
The engines are made from parts from the Airfix
1:144 scale Saturn V rocket model, and the round caps on the front of the
engines and the rings on the back are made from "Leggs" stocking containers.
